"Islands in the stream 2009" was a hit for Various Artists in 2009. This is one song that will never die! Islands in the stream has been recorded and released by so many different artists over the years, at the time of writing it was the biggest selling country song of all time. It's ironic that it wasn't even written by a country music artist - it was written by the Bee gees. Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton have become synonymous with this song and this backing track version keeps to the same arrangement that they originally recorded where the song begins in the key of C then jumps to A flat for the second verse where Dolly comes in. If you're looking for a song to sing a duet with someone, then they don't come any better than Islands in the stream. In 2009, Tom Jones, Robin Gibb, Rob Brydon and Ruth Jones released a charity version for Comic Relief so we've re-mixed the original version to bring the track a little more up to date.
